Iraq's Unity is Our Identity

Iraq's Unity is Our Identity

By: Ibrahim AL-Bayati

It is an honour to write the article whose title is about the unity of my beloved nation IRAQ. And I was motivated by the fact that Iraqi citizens have come across crucial moments throughout history where the patriotism was tested and the unity of our country was in grave jeopardy because of misbahaviours of certain figures. They tried hard to stay in power by all means and they did not care about their people. Therefore, they wanted to separate from this great nation and be in power forever.

However, every action has a reaction; those pro-separation figures thought that no one would be against their so called project "independence". For this reason, they moved forward in their plan without paying any attention to the Federal Government of Iraq led by Dr. Haider AL-Abadi who played a major role in keeping Iraq one peace. He asked North of Iraq to revoke referendum results and come to Baghdad so as to hold constructive talks aiming at addressing unresolved problems between Baghdad and Irbil. But beat the dead dog, because North of Iraq response was freezing the results. So, the crisis was escalated.

As for the constitution of Iraq, North of Iraq was always saying that we work in accordance with the Iraqi constitution and our referendum is legitimate because it is based on Article 140 of the constitution. In my opinion, North of Iraq was not correct because the referendum was aiming to independence and independence means the separation from Iraq therefore; the referendum is null and void constitutionally because it is against article No.1 of the constitution. While article 140 has two-year expiry date from 2005 to 2007 and now we are in 2017. This is why, their pretext is not acceptable.

Although all nations in the world supported Iraq' unity and gave many pieces of advice to North of Iraq to stop the referendum and go back to negotiation table to handle the problems, they did not care about all the efforts made to end the conflict.

Moreover, Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Dr. Al-Abadi ordered Iraqi Armed Forces to take control of Iraqi areas under the control of other forces to establish peace and security and protect the life of all Iraqi citizens regardless of their religions, ethnicities and affiliations. The Iraqi forces took control of these areas successfully. On the top of that, People of these areas received Iraqi forces warmly to express their happiness.

A lesson must be learned from what happened in Iraq, it is about our unity, Iraq is united from Zakho to Faw and our people are united under the glorious flag of Iraq. Finally, I want to send a clear message to anyone wanting to divide my nation, I tell him you will never ever be able to divide my great nation Iraq because Arabs, Kurds, Turkmen and other ethnicities are united now and forever.

My Second Paper

In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

I thank AL-mighty Allah (The God of Universe), my parents, Deanship of College of Arts/ AL-Iraqia University, my professors and all those who are around me for helping me complete and publish my second paper in Midad AL-Adab Referred Journal that received the Arab Impact Factor (1,02 )and for being assigned as a member of the editorial board of the above mentioned journal. The following is the Abstract of my paper titled "The Study of the Assessment of the Qur'anic Word Ghurfa into English".

Abstract

The paper aims to see how far Qur'anic translators whose translations are selected for assessment are capable of rendering the meaning and sense of the Qur'anic word "Ghurfa" adequately; especially the word concerned refers to two different things,

The first means hollow of hand whereas, the second one refers to places in paradise.

And the researcher based his paper on the following hypotheses:

1-Most Qur'anic translators are likely to render the Qur'anic word "Ghurfa" appropriately.

2-Inadequate renditions can be produced due to the confusion of selecting which meaning of the word is intended

To validate the hypotheses mentioned above, the researcher selected five Qur'anic Ayas embracing the word "Ghurfa" and he consulted four existing Qur'anic translations. And the researcher has designed an eclectic model for assessment. Moreover, the results of the paper have validated the aforementioned hypotheses because most Qur'anic translators rendered the Qur'anic word "Ghurfa" into English appropriately. And they did not mix between the meanings of Qur'anic word "Ghurfa".

Building University Student Starts in Classroom

Building University Student Starts in Classroom

By:

Assistant Instructor Ibrahim Talaat Ibrahim (M.A)

Deputy Head of Translation Department/ College of Arts/ AL-Iraqia University

University campus is defined as the centre of science and knowledge and it is place that contributes to building nations and peoples. Besides, university student is described as the cornerstone of the academic process. This is why; university professor cares about the student a lot so as to live up to his scientific level. And the classroom is an area that witnesses the formulation of university student through the process of teaching and learning. In other words, the process mentioned above does not contribute to building the student scientifically only but also helps refine his thoughts and behaviour to be great. On the top of that a lot of talks happen between the professor and his student in classroom and every single subject has a great importance to the formation of his mentality. Moreover, there are several factors working on building student's personality in classroom, they are presented below:

-Respect: it is considered to be the foundation of student-student and student-professor relations. So, students must show respect for their own professor and this behaviour motivates him to deal with them kindly.

-Doing homework completely: the student might feel lazy once he hears about homework. However, this is an important subject because it will help boost his academic skills. Besides, a student might think about the following "the reason of joining university or college is to get a certificate no more no less" and following graduation, there will many negative impacts once he tries to get a job but unfortunately, he does not find an appropriate opportunity because his academic grades are low and this happened as a result of not paying attention to the homework given to him by his professor in classroom or he did not care about his curricula in general. Therefore, the student must be interested in the academic curriculum to achieve his goal.

- Co-operating with colleagues: co-operation is an essential characteristic of building university student process due to its good academic, social and practical dimensions. So, it is advised that all students should co-operate with each other in different academic, social and scientific fields because it works on strengthening friendship and brotherhood bond among student.

Faithfulness in work: freshmen might not understand the concept of faithfulness in work. Therefore, they may witness dangerous situations. So, faithfulness is mastering the work by staying away from falseness. In other word, when any professor assigns a student to do certain task, he has to master it without any negligence.  When the student succeeds in his academic years and he understood all the aforementioned points, he will be the best and he can contribute building his society properly.

So, the classroom remains the foundation of building students scientifically and helps build his personality to be an active figure in his society. And subsequently, he will be the pillar of structuring his state's higher values
